Hi everybody! Greetings from the land of Chicken Cake. It’s been a while since our last update. Nadiah has been busy believing in nothing, while Ali recovered from a recent encounter with an evil pony. Nevertheless, we still have lots of videos and photos from our last collab session to share with you, and we’ve been brainstorming for our next crazy project adventure. We’ve decided to scrap the monthly podcast for now and just record those shows irregularly (a.k.a. when/if we feel like it). Deadlines are a total drag on creativity, man. So instead, we’re focusing on the projects we feel passionate about collaborating on. We’re actually planning to record several new videos and a comedy music album the next time we’re able to hang out – which is scheduled for early March.

Hey, where in the crap is the November Chicken Cake podcast?! Well, here’s what happened: Aliens snuck into Nadiah’s house, broke her computer, and then ate all of the vegan mayonnaise (aka ‘vegenaise’) in the refrigerator, thus making it impossible for Chicken Cake to record a new podcast. We know it sounds like just a lame excuse, but we swear, every word of is true.

We’ll be back at the end of December with a new show that is… OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Hello everyone,

It's been a crazy ride since I began my collaborative work with Chicken Cake, and I feel that it's finally time for me to address the lovely and loyal fans that I have acquired on this incredible journey. I suppose the first thing I really would like to say is THANK YOU to everyone who has been following my artistic endeavours. It has been a privilege and an absolute honour to inspire and entertain.

Lately I have been reflecting on my journey as an artist. It seems that all of the paths that led me to failure have only been small disappointments in the grand scheme of things. It seems all of those little trails and paths I took all came together to create one big road, leading me straight into the frosting covered cakey goodness that is Chicken Cake. I have never felt such creative freedom as I do here.

However, my work with Chicken Cake is currently being a bit stalled. Having broke through as an actor, I have discovered many opportunities that I feel compelled to seize. I have been experimenting with more mediums as an artist, beyond the world of performance arts.

I am currently working on a clothing line, which is very much under wraps at the moment. All I can really say is that the clothing line is mainly focused on incorporating themes of toasters and hairdryers into everyday clothing. I have always had a fascination with household appliances. They continue to baffle me to this day, and I feel the strong urge to reflect their mystique through the art of design.

I am also dabbling in various other activities, from zen gardening (i find kitty litter to be a tad demeaning, and have found a better use for the awful stuff) to meditation. Through Chicken Cake I have discovered my true creative soul, and I do believe my aura is a reflection of my new and improved creative self.

So, in conclusion, I would like to AGAIN thank my incredible fans, who have been on this fantastic roller coaster ride with me through thick and thin. Kisses and much love to you all, you are truly my burning, shining, everlasting stars!

Unfortunately, she was a deeply disturbed soul, as demonstrated by some of the artwork she completed in her final months. She died in much the same way as she lived... floating in a pool of her own vomit. She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Vedder and her best friend, President Princess Ali R. Puckett, Esquire."

Brand new Chicken Cake video: Jungle Horse!

So, what in the world is Jungle Horse? Well, Jungle Horse is Nadiah’s cat, and technically his name is Frankie. However, upon meeting this very special cat, Ali decided that Frankie was not the name that best suited him. He is a HUGE cat! Not fat, just a BIG BOY! He’s a tabby breed, so he has that jungle look about him. Plus, he has this way of galloping around the house. He’s like a jungle… horse! Yes, that’s it! Jungle Horse! How fitting! Just don’t try to convince Nadiah’s mom of that. She likes the name Frankie better. Pfft!

In honor of our favorite salty snack, here are some random pretzel fun facts. Bon appetit!

The pretzel market in the United States is about $560 million a year.
The first pretzel was likely developed in 610 A.D. by a monk in southern France or northern Italy. It was originally called a 'pretiola' and was renamed 'pretzel' later when the idea migrated to Germany and Austria.
The first pretzels were of the soft variety. Legend has it that one night a baker who was baking a batch of pretzels fell asleep. When he woke up all the moisture was cooked out of them and the hard pretzel was born.
The primary ingredients in pretzel dough include flour, water, yeast, shortening, and sugar.
How are pretzels salted? After the pretzels leave the hot bath, they are passed under a machine which delivers salt crystals to their surface. Modern pretzelmaking lines use a vibrating salter, which consists of a vibrating plate driven by a series of small motors and magnets. The salt is evenly distributed on each pretzel with the excess falling through the wire mesh belt and being recycled.

What is Chicken Cake?

What the hell is Chicken Cake you ask? Well, it all began like this.

We (Ali, and Nadiah, that is) met on Etsy, realized we had a similar sense of humor, and quickly became friends. We started working on collaboration projects together such as the Indie 5 Collective, but we still felt a strong desire to work on artsy stuff outside the world of crafts.

Living in different areas of the country made it difficult for us to collaborate. Fortunately, in June of 2009, we were able to get together for a week of fun, crafts, art, and humor, and Chicken Cake was born.

We would like to share all of our video, photo, and musical shenanigans (and there's a LOT of that on the way) that we have already completed, as well as new ideas brewing in the Chicken Cake laboratories.
